How can I help?
Send me an email: fun@theredballoons.com
How are you going to win?
It will be a mix of strategies but here is the basic outline.
1. Build a large network of people all over the US that will look for the balloons come Dec. 15
2. Create a group of researchers to scour the net and news channels (TV, Radio) for sitings – high possibility that news coverage will be extremely high.
3. Top Screct at least for now
4. Top Screct at least for now
What do I get for helping you?
The first goal of The Red Balloons is to donate as much of the winnings to the Fire Fighter Scholarship Program (for full disclosure this is my sister fund setup in my nefews name). But in the interest in helping compensate for the time everyone will be putting in helping me… If you are instrumental in finding one of the balloons for our team I will fly you out to the award ceremony or press covered event. Everyone else I will mail you a pretty red balloon with a thank you note from me!
How do I find out more?
email me fun@theredballoons.com
I’ll be adding to the FAQ as we go check that page as we go.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the Internet, DARPA has announced the DARPA Network Challenge, a competition that will explore the role the Internet and social networking plays in the timely communication, wide area team-building and urgent mobilization required to solve broad scope, time-critical problems.
The challenge is to be the first to submit the locations of ten moored, 8 foot, red weather balloons located at ten fixed locations in the continental United States. Balloons will be in readily accessible locations and visible from nearby roadways.
